Saint John, New Brunswick – Premiers from New Brunswick, Saskatchewan and Ontario met in Toronto on Sunday to sign a memorandum committing to collaborate on the development and deployment of small modular reactor (SMR) technology. With ARC Canada, President & CEO, Norman JD Sawyer in attendance, the three Premiers solidified their commitment to mitigate the effects of climate change through this technology.
“New Brunswick is demonstrating leadership through action” says Mr. Sawyer, “the signing of this memorandum with the other Premiers demonstrates the Government of New Brunswick’s resolve for climate change. I was honoured to be invited to such a prestigious event and proud to represent New Brunswick,” describing his views on the signing ceremony. “Other Provinces are now recognizing ARC Canada’s efforts and with the continued support of the government of New Brunswick, this is another step forward in our journey to provide a safe, low cost energy option that addresses waste and climate change goals.”
The Collaboration Memorandum of Understanding between New Brunswick, Saskatchewan and Ontario acknowledges SMR technology as the next generation of innovation, versatility and scalability. With its headquarters in New Brunswick, ARC Canada intends to unlock its high-tech proven innovation by deploying at the Point Lepreau Generating Station, while developing a sustainable economic supply chain in the region with well paying jobs.
